Mckenzie Ryan

I am immersed in the local underground flow arts, wellness and bass music communities, and am compelled to interpret the community and individuals experiences.  I take my studio practice into the worlds of these events to study the social gatherings and the movement being expressed in every form. With my easel, I alchemize the energy of these events into my work, allowing the elements, music and subjects flow state to give influence the documentation of these experiences. I am building the stories of transformation happening within the scene to create a larger mythos for the culture.

Mckenzie Ryan was born 1994 in Salt Lake City, UT, raised in the Chicago area, and is currently based in Miami, FL. Immersed in fine art, theater, and music as a child, these became natural skills. The beauty of dance enticed her but she struggled to understand it for herself. During her college education, she found the flow arts and underground music community  in Chicago and attended her first music festivals, forever changing her relationship with her physical expression of flow, giving her artistic practice fuel and purpose. Now, after living in 8 different states around the USA and experiencing the networks of underground communities throughout, she is driven to gather stories from her experiences and social media to immortalize and give back to the individuals and networks that make up this evolving cultural movement.
